In the late 1990s (I think) Behringer came out with the DSP-8024, a 31-band graphic equalizer. They referred to this (and the later DSP-9024 unit) as a "digital mainframe", which probably refers to the fact that both units were basically the same DSP computer with different firmware (and some minor other differences, as we will find.)
The aforementioned DSP-9024 was more interesting: it was essentially a mastering processor, with multiband-compression, tube emulation, and an exciter. I always thought this would be cool to own, but they fetch higher prices on eBay than the 8024. I'd seen some suggestions online that the 8024 could be converted to a 9024 by dropping a new EPROM in, so naturally, I wanted to try this out and see if the claims had merit.
